Merry Christmas from Simply Weddings

This is me with my grand-daughter. We had just had our hair done because it was her 8th birthday. She told me a few days ago she hopes I will still be alive to do her wedding. Then she corrected herself and said she hoped I would still be in business.

Christmas for us is all about the children, our four and our three grand-children. I really missed my daughter today, as she is in NJ. Hopefully she will be home soon and we are planning a big family get-together. I was blessed today to be able to visit with all my family including both my mother and father.

By December 31, 2008 I will have officiated at 123 weddings for the year 2008. It has been a great year for me. I meet lots of very nice people, including some brides and grooms who will always stand out. (You know who you are, and I hear from you on Facebook all the time). I am looking forward to another good year in 2009, which starts off with a 5oth Anniversary renewal on 1 January. Look for some great pictures. Then I have a very special Wedding Blessing on 6th January for a US serviceman presently overseas and his young bride.

This was a Sunday afternoon wedding I did a few weeks ago for a local couple. The ceremony took place on Seven Mile Beach, between Calico Jacks and White Sands condos.

Romantic Wedding Gazebo as Alternative to Beach

Caymanians and residents have been choosing the Wedding Gazebo on Boltins Avenue, West Bay as the place to celebrate their nuptials for the last 15 years. One tip is that there is no rental charge if your wedding is being arranged by Cayman Weddings. The garden can accommodate up to 30 people for a reception, and chairs can be provided at a nominal fee.

The Wedding Gazebo is sometimes used as a bad weather back-up for visitor weddings, but this visiting couple chose the lush setting of the Wedding Gazebo over the beach last week. although it was a nice sunny evening.

Cheers from the witnesses and best wishes for a long and happy married life. By law, each wedding must have two witnesses over the age of 18.

Special Memories - Turtle Nest Inn, Grand Cayman

Sometimes clients take the time to write and let us know how they're doing, and we really appreciate it. My mom and dad have been married for almost 58 years! My husband and I have been married for 36 years, so both my mother and I have strong feelings about the institution of marriage, and I think this comes out in our ceremonies.

I did a wedding today at Smith's Cove, and a young man whose ceremony I did early this year came up to me to say hi. He wanted to let me know he had recommended our services to the bridal couple, and he was pleased to let me know he and his wife were happy and doing well. Now, that's news I love to hear!

The Turtle Nest Inn is in Bodden Town, right next to the house I grew up in. I have many happy memories of exploring this beach and riding stick horses with my brother along the shore. Here is Francine, performing the ceremony.

Wapakoneta Couple Enjoy Their Special Day

Today I officiated at a ceremony for a couple from Wapakoneta, Ohio who came in on one of the Carnival cruise-ships. It was a beautiful cool and sunny day and I enjoyed myself as much as these two enjoyed their time in Cayman.

I was very impressed that J designed her own bouquet.

This tropical outfit was crafted by J, it had a beaded hem, a gold cumberband and gold straps.
Special features included the Unity Sand Ceremony (what a great Memory Vase they found and brought from home !). This couple put a lot of time and thought into their ceremony and I thought I would share what they chose for their reading with you.

Seven Mile Beach Wedding Vows Renewal is Special

I am just back from two weeks vacation. One week visiting family in Trinidad, and one week visiting my daughter and son-in-law in New Jersey which involved a trip to Atlantic City. The day before I left I did this simple wedding vow renewal ceremony for a couple married 15 years.

This was really simple, it involved picking up the couple and their daughter and a few friends, from the harbour since they were on a cruise, taking them down to the Governor's Beach and performing the ceremony. The starfish came in handy, as this lady got new rings, which were a surprise.

The couple's 12 year old daughter, in a matching outfit with her mom did the reading for the ceremony as requested and provided by her dad in advance.

This group of friends were traveling on the cruise and joined the happy couple for their ceremony and champagne toast. They then all took a mini-bus to continue the sightseeing and fun before rejoining the cruise for their next stop.
