Cayman Wedding at Sunset for Memphis Visitors

The days are getting shorter now, so I am booking my last wedding of the day at 5:30pm. If you want to get the full effect of a Cayman Wedding at sunset you should pick Seven Mile Beach like this couple from Memphis did. They were staying at Morritts Tortuga, but came down to George Town for their wedding ceremony.

The ceremony took place at the Governor's beach

With Joy and their Marriage Certificate

The spot we chose for the ceremony was next to the Pinnacle, seen here in the background.

Good view of Seven Mile Beach, you can see how pretty it is

This is really one of the world's greatest beaches

They got fabulous sunset pictures.

The end of a perfect wedding day!

Beautiful Cruise Wedding at My Secret Cove, Grand Cayman

As some of you will know from Facebook, this is a tough time for my family and I as my dad, Vernon Jackson, the founder of Cayman Weddings is ill in Victoria, BC and my mom and brother are with him. While he is improving and we are hopeful, he is a long way from home. In the meantime, my sister and I will take turns going up to Canada to help out.

I am very grateful to all our associates, Rev. Godfrey Meghoo, Rev. Joe Crawford, and Rev. Harold Paramlall all marriage officers, and long-term friends of my family who are helping out and will be conducting the ceremonies next week.

As always, I am also grateful to my wedding coordinator Peggy Moorhead for her love and support, and the excellent job she does at Simply Weddings.

Rev. Meghoo officiates at this cruise wedding at My Secret Cove, last week

This couple from Lacombe, Louisiana were in town last week on a cruise ship, accompanied by the groom's parents. The bride is an environmental scientist with a degree in marine biology, and was excited about the sea-life she saw in the cove, including a baby eel.
IMHO one of prettiest wedding spots in Cayman

The whole group poses with the Special Marriage License and Marriage Certificate

This spot has rocks, and also a little sandy beach with pink sand

This was one of our all-inclusive cruise packages which includes all the legal requirements for a marriage in the Cayman Islands, including the Special Marriage License and the Marriage Officer/Civil Registrar. Also included in this wedding package is transportation, flowers, champagne and photography. Brides may dress in our new Bridal Room before being taken to the wedding location. A Simple Wedding, and a well-kept secret, Grand Cayman Beach Wedding

Being a wedding celebrant and planner is the perfect job for me, because I like to meet and talk to people, and weddings are always happy occasions. I thought this 09/09/09 wedding had all the ingredients for a great wedding, and I certainly enjoyed it very much.

First of all the bride and I hit it off right away, I guess you could say we quickly became friends. So it was fun for me helping her dress and do her hair in the Bride's Room. my husband took the groom separately to My Secret Cove so they wouldn't see each other until they got to the wedding location.

MSC was the perfect location for this wedding, intimate and private with some shade and some greenery. Those of you who have been to MSC know what a great spot it is.

I liked this bride so much I loaned her my husband to escort her to the ceremony

This is a little natural stage where I like my couples to stand

This is a good shot of this hidden cove

I will not take more than 6 people to MSC, it's really only suitable for a very small group

These will always be one of my favourite couples

Just married flip-flops!

Cayman Islands Beach Wedding was Enchanting for Canadian Cruisers

This couple from Woodslee, Ontario were in Cayman on the "Enchantment of the Seas" and tied the knot earlier this week at Governor's Beach. Since we got their Special Marriage License early, the beach was virtually deserted and it was not too hot. Although I must admit I am yearning for the most pleasant weather of October - May.

Listening to the ceremony

Close your eyes and make a wish, open them and kiss the one you love

Cheers and good wishes from the whole group

The couple brought witnesses they had met on their cruise ship

Unusual pose, as requested by the bride and groom

Another beautiful morning on Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman

The happy couple

See what I mean by deserted beach?

Lucky 09/09/09 Grand Cayman Wedding Day for VA Cruisers

The second biggest day for weddings for the year 2009 is over. (The biggest day of the year is always St Valentine's Day) It was a long day for me and I was happy to get home and put my feet up.

The couple below were the first wedding of the day, and it took place at My Secret Cove. I know there were at least four cruise weddings, since I met three other marriage officers down at the marriage bureau getting their Special Marriage Licenses.

I had a lot of fun with this couple, who are from Virginia traveling on one of the Carnival fun ships out of Ft. Lauderdale.

We snapped some photos in the garden of the Simply weddings office, under the palm trees.

98 degrees in the shade at My SecretCove

We got to the beach by 10 a.m. and it was virtually deserted, unusual when there are three cruise ships in port. These are the unofficial photos with my Olympus FE 370, the official photos were by Bobby of Island Photo and I will post them when I get them in a few days.

My wedding co-ordinator Peggy is away for the week, and sitting at her desk I realise I can see the cruise ships in the harbour. I thought that was really cool. You can see one of them in the background of this picture taken in the Simply Weddings garden.

Trisha's Roses did an especially nice job today, adding some cybidium orchids to the bride's bouquet. I told her she should put one in her hair when she dresses for dinner aboard the ship tonight.

Other weddings today, a resident couple at the Commonwealth, and a Caymanian bride and her Indian groom at the new Cotton Tree Resort. I was blown away by this fabulous property, and I know the pictures by Rebecca Davidson of Picture This will be stunning. I hope to be able to share some of these photos with you in the coming days.

Grand Cayman Beach Wedding Was Fun For Kids Too

Combining a cruise vacation and a wedding at the end of summer, this family was in Grand Cayman last week, and had their wedding at the Governor's Beach.

These girls loved getting all dressed up in the Simply Weddings "Bridal Room"

My associate, Reverend Godfrey Meghoo performed the ceremony

20 tips on planning a Destination Wedding in the Cayman Islands

  • Couples chose to have a Destination Wedding for many reasons. One reason is to be able to control the cost of your wedding. If you are thinking of a Destination Wedding, the Cayman Islands is a good choice. It is near the US mainland, it is an exotic Caribbean island with beautiful beaches, and it has very good, high quality, services. Your Cayman Islands wedding is legal world-wide.
  • Over 90% of brides use the internet to research their wedding. Start by typing in 'wedding' and 'Grand Cayman' or 'Cayman Islands'. You will find lots of wedding planners, and hotels with wedding planning services.

  • If you typed 'getting married in Cayman' into your browser you will get a list of all the requirements, but there is no need to get the requisite Special Marriage License yourself, your wedding planner will get that for you at no additional cost.
  • A wedding planner or wedding consultant is an intelligent choice for a destination wedding, since she will know the best local vendors.
  • Establish a budget for your destination wedding. If you are coming by cruise ship, an all-inclusive package which includes transportation for you and any guests may be your best option.
  • If you arrived by plane, factor in transportation, either a cab, a town-car or a limousine. You don't want to be driving on the 'wrong' side of an unfamiliar road after your wedding dinner or celebration.
  • Tell your wedding planner the things which are most important to you. If you want a deserted beach you might have to pay time and travel costs, but a quiet beach might have no additional costs.
  • If you want a particular floral arrangement send the images to your wedding planner, but expect to pay mainland US prices plus 20%, all cut flowers are imported into the island and attract import duty.

  • Your wedding officiant should send you a script of the ceremony well in advance so you can negotiate any changes you wish to make.
  • If you are traveling with no guests, make sure your wedding planner knows so she can arrange the two witnesses required by law.

  • Our marriage bureau is not open on weekends or the 10 annual Public Holidays. Your wedding planner can make special arrangements with the government authorities to get your Special Marriage License, but it has to be done in advance.
  • Be sure to provide the required documents well in advance. You can mail or scan the picture page of your passport (colour is better) and any divorce decree (every single page.) The marriage bureau does not accept facsimiles (faxed copies)and your wedding officiant won't either.
  • Bring whatever you plan to wear to the wedding, and pack it 15 days in advance so you're sure not to forget anything. Being spontaneous is nice, but when we want to buy clothes for a wedding we go to the USA. there is limited choice here.
  • Book a photographer. Today's digital cameras are great, but things happen when you move from air-conditioned cars and rooms to the hot beach. Don't gamble with your wedding pictures.
  • If you want a 'name'photographer, say so. You can usually get any photographer you want, for an additional cost to your package.
  • Yes, you can get a wedding cake. Your wedding planner can advise on the size, most popular for cruise weddings are 6" and 8" cakes with fondant icing (doesn't melt in the sun)

  • Be thoughtful and treat your wedding vendors as the professionals they are.
  • When something goes wrong, it shoul;d be compensated for by an apology, a rebate or some small token of appreciation for your business from your wedding planner.
  • You should acknowledge good service by a note or email.
  • Always say goodbye and thank the people who have worked hard to ensure you have a perfect wedding day in the Cayman Islands.

Stylish Wedding at Ristorante Pappagallo, Grand Cayman

This was a lovely wedding I did at Ristorante Pappagallo on the weekend. I have known the groom and his family all my life, and I enjoyed seeing all the family. The wedding was very stylish, and the wedding colours were pearl gray, soft pink and fuschia.

The very beautiful bride
